Task: Create a brand identity and campaign literature for a political candidate
Background: This project highlights my work as head designer for a local campaign in my hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. The candidate was running to unseat an incumbent who had been in the position for over 10 years. Because of this, modernity and strength were at the center of my design choices as I created the logo and brand system, postcards, walk cards, yard signs, and website for the campaign.

The Process

Brainstorm + Sketch: I first met with the client to gain a better understanding of what she wanted to communicate to the voters. From that conversation, I decided to go with a traditional red, white, and blue palette, but use a sans serif typeface to communicate modernity and strength. After sketching out my ideas, I digitized a few options, then refined the design with the candidate until we landed on this final version.

Building the Brand: After the logo and colors were established, I then created the rest of the materials. For this campaign, the main literature distributed to voters were walk cards (pictured above) and postcards. These required close work with the candidate: determining the primary information that needed to be conveyed and designing to highlight these key pieces of her platform.
